Review cheap Chinese wireless USB adapter that works great with Backtrack 5 SignalKing Clipper

By | December 17, 2012

I am always on the lookout for long range USB wireless adapters that work well with Backtrack. Of course I don’t want to spend lots of $$$ trying them out. This is one of the attempts at trying to take the cheap road with a very long range USB wireless adapter that would work with Backtrack. I found this by looking at adapters on eBay. This one called a SignalKing Clipper is a wireless N adapter with a Ralink 3070 chipset.
I order this one because of the chipset Ralink 3070 which the Alfa AWUSO36NH wireless USB adapter uses and it works great with backtrack. I have used the Alfa AWUS036NH for a while and it works great (see my other post), but even after upgrading the antenna from 5 DBI to a 9 DBI I wanted more range.
eBay and Amazon are flooded with long range adapter but the prices vary wildly and I need it to work with Backtrack. So I ordered this cheap Chinese version figuring what would I have to lose, and I have not been disappointed. This adapter works great for me and the range is twice better than any of my other wireless adapters. I will post more on it as I use it. Below is links.

Amazon (Different model Signalking on Amazon with higher dbi)

I orderd one from China using the ePacket. It took three weeks to get to me. It works great though. They included a Bini mini CD and instructions. I use Bactrack though.
