Skullcandy Hesh 2 Wireless Bluetooth Headphones Review

By | February 12, 2015

Today were doing a review of the brand-new Skullcandy Hesh 2 wireless headphones (video review below). It’s the first set of wireless headphones Skullcandy has ever released.

They are Bluetooth and so they will work with any device that has Bluetooth.

It comes with accessories such as cable if you want to use a wired connection it also has the clicker so it can pause, stop, play, set the volume up and down, skip tracks and so on.

The next accessory is common with wireless headphones now. It is the USB charging cable that can be plugged in to charge headphones.

It also comes with a small pouch to help hold everything. The pouch is not made to protect the headphones but meant to be a carrying case. One of the good things about buying from Skullcandy is their warranty so if anything does go wrong within a year or breaks that are easily replaced.

The box states that they have 15 hours of battery life although this hasn’t been fully tested and has been tested by us up to 10 hours

The headphones themselves at a glance look just like the other non-wireless Skullcandy Hesh 2 headphones.

As far as the build quality Skullcandy has been some improvements over the original. The ear cups on the original were made in the leather quality material which made them very stiff so they had no give at all, and this made them feel tight when placed on your head.

These new sets have a different leather material that are almost reminiscent of what is on the Beats Pros. The stitching is well done and also has plenty of give which adds to a much softer feel.
The top of the headset has been built with a give so they can be twisted and moved about without breaking and also adds to comfort when in motion.

As far as flash they really keep it on the down low for the most part, while it does say Skullcandy across the top it is in black the same color as the headphones themselves. They do have a chrome ring around the earpieces like an earlier styles, and of course the Skullcandy skull logo on the side.

The controls are easily managed, after holding down the Bluetooth button they flash initially and after this only occasionally showing it is connected.

Next to the power button is the mic button you can answer and receive calls easily while working out or whenever wearing them.
Skullcandy sound has always had a warm sound to their headphones and is no different with these. The sound is the same in both Bluetooth mode and wireless mode.

Since these look just like the non-wireless model be sure they say wireless and have the Bluetooth logo if you buy a set.

Not being able to turn of the flashing light is just a pain in the ass. What idiot wants some stupid light flashing reflecting of every object in the room breaking your concentration. I’m a wiser person for this now and any further purchases will not include blinking lights.

I fixed the flashing blue light with duct tape initially but finally opened it up and removed the LED. Annoying as hell especially at night.

The flashing blue light is the worst. Honestly, these headphones sound fine, but the flashing blue light is a deal breaker for me. I’m going to return them. I should have gone with my gut and just ponied up for Beats.

Has anyone found a solution yet?

Anybody able to disable the Flashing blue light. I had a person sitting next to me on the Airplane complain about it being annoying. Luckily I had the cable with me. But I hate the flashing blue light.

The flashing light sucks. It can be seen filling my bedroom at night. I use the headphones to watch tv as to not disturb my family. Huge downfall of this product is this flashing light!!!

Is there any way to turn off the flashing blue light when using these headphones? The blinking every five seconds when paired wirelessly is slowly driving me mad.

I had these headphones for about 1 week, maybe 5 days, and they wont charge. Is there a way I can make them charge again, or are they trash?

i had that problem 2. if it gives a red light it works, if it doesn’t then you have to press in in really hard (yeah… that’s what she said haha -_-) until it gives that lovely red light :3

I had the same problem, the charging light would go bonkers and flash red rapidly, but after about 30s it stops and nothing has charged.

I tried to click/long press/rapid press/…etc. the power button, and the charging light would become solid red for about 30s and turn off.

I also tried to turn on and off the headphones while plugged to power outlet, and it turns on, but then the power button flashes red (low bat) and eventually turns off when the charging light turns off . There was also some weird noises coming from the headphones while doing this.

I tried to look online for a way to do a hard reset, but there doesn’t seem to be a way. So I just left the headphones unplugged for 2 days… occasionally trying to turn it on by long pressing the power button. The goal was to drain the battery…

And it worked o.o now it’s charging again, will see if using the headphones will it turns off due to low bat does it again.

Does the Lenovo have Bluetooth, or a Bluetooth dongle plugged in?
