The Amazon Fire TV Stick is a great low-cost way to stream media to a TV.

While it can be a great device it does need a good WiFi signal to stream data.

For most, this is likely not a problem, and streaming over wireless works very well.

With that said there are many scenarios when the WiFi does not work well and using an Ethernet wired cable is a much better solution.

If you find yourself needing to have Ethernet work with the Fire Stick there is a low-cost device that will convert a signal.

Since the Micro-USB power port is an OTG plug an Adapter can add Ethernet and power to the unit.

OTG has been used by Android devices for many years as a way to connect wired keyboards, mice, and external storage to an Android device including the Fire TV Stick.

OTG comes built into the Fire Stick and can be used in the same way.

Fire Stick Version Compatibility
If you have a Fire TV Stick Gen 1 it will need to be Rooted for OTG to work.

If you have a Fire TV Stick Gen 2 it will work by default and simply need to be plugged in.

If you have a Fire TV Stick Gen 3 4K version it will work by default and simply need to be plugged in.

OTG is Plug and Play with the second and third-generation 4K version but the first generation will need to be rooted.

Basically, unless you are a technical person ready to Root the Fire Stick it will only work with the second and third-generation 4K version.

I’m trying to disconnect the Ethernet connection on my firetv box. I have a fiber-optic connection to the internet. Mistakenly, I input the numbers required to connect to Ethernet. I want to try and get back to where it was originally. That is, to connect to WiFi. Please help me. I cannot find anywhere on the internet on how to fix this.

You simply need to disconnect the cables and the system will search for your wireless connection again. It should even remember your wifi network name and password.

You’ll need to buy one from Amazon or any store that sell electronics and the price varies.

If you’re paying for more than 100mbps, DON’T buy the Amazon adapter. It will throttle you down to below 100. I have 200mbps, and found a “UGREEN” adapter/hub that doesn’t throttle my speed. I don’t know what it’s top limit is – or if it has one, so check BEFORE you buy. Just saying…

The Micro USB Port on the Firestick limits the Ethernet connection to 100mbps so it doesn’t really matter.

I bought a amazon fire tablet 10 to watch downloads on my tv when camping. Have found out that simple hdmi cord doesn’t work on newer amazon tablets! So now I’m trying to figure out what else I have to buy. From what I can tell I need the Amazon fire stick and a ethernet adapter, will this work? I will have electric in camper but no internet or wifi, will put downloads on at home first. Thanks!

You said “It will only work on the second and third-gen 4K Fire TV Stick so be sure which version you have.” It doesn’t have to be the 4K Firestick.

I added a Soundbar to my tv and there is a Delay with the sound and picture. Will the Hardwire Ethernet adapter Resolve that?

Use the 3-line button to bring up the action bar, scroll rt to speaker icon and selsct, scroll down to delay and select, scroll forward to 200 and see if that helps, be sure to select reset for all before closing. I use 375 with my sound bar.
