Review USBNOVEL 1200Mbps USB WiFi Adapter USB 3.0 with Dual Antenna
The USBNOVEL 1200 is an 802.11AC dual band USB WiFi Adapter built for fast transfer speeds and distance.

The USBNOVEL works in both the old 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

It uses the Realtek 8812BU chipset.

WiFi Speed Test 2.4GHz Band
All speed test were done to a Netgear Nighthawk 802.11ac router 10 feet away past a wall.

Using the online site Speedtest.net it gave the results of 41Mbps Download, and 21Mbps Upload.

This is some good results for a WiFi adapter in the older 2.4GHz frequency.

If the 2.4GHz band is used all wireless devices will default to Wireless-N. Only the 5GHz band uses the new Wireless-AC.

The 2.4 GHz band is backward compatible with older devices and better with range so is still nice to have available.

WiFi Speed Test 5GHz Band
Doing the same test again with Speedtest.net on the 5GHz band it gave the results of 216Mbps Download, and 21Mbps Upload.

This was some very good results with then unit maxing out my internet connection and likely able to go faster.

The Wireless-AC works in the 5GHz Band and can transfer data much faster compared to the older 2.4GHz Wireless-N protocol.

While it can transfer faster than Wireless-N it does not transmit a signal as far as 2.4Ghz.

Summary
The USBNOVEL 1200Mbps is a good low-cost USB adapter that has good compatibility and speeds.

It uses the newest WiFi protocol 802.11AC and is a dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz unit.

This makes it able to work in most any network old or new.

While testing the transfer speeds were very good with the 5GHz band transferring at 216Mbps Download, and 21Mbps Upload.

Keep in mind this maxed out my internet connection with the unit most likely able to go faster.

The USBNOVEL 1200Mbps would be a good fit for a desktop or laptop that needs to pick up a signal from father away.

I am still testing the unit so far with good results and will update if anything changes.

As always be sure to read the reviews on Amazon, forums, or elsewhere to be sure a unit is a good fit for you.

I want to thank WirelesSHack for his YouTube reviews on USB Adapters. I purchased 2 USB adapters for my laptops. Although I purchased a lower AC and the other AC600 I purchase you did not review I wanted to compare them with another YouTube reviewer on a similar but different product.

I bought both a USB Novel and USB Cudy. I tried the Cudy first, it didn’t come with any disc however, with one click it automatically downloaded to my Network. I did find it strange when I click my network it automatically showed up with my Network name, all I needed to do was add my security Key.

I ejected the Cudy and proceeded with my Novel. Didn’t have to do anything at all, just click my network and done! I’m happy that now my 2010 laptop has 5GHz

I first checked my 2.4GHz speed which was all I had and without the adapters, very poor.
Then Tested both on their 2.4GHz and 5GHz, if I could I would attach the speed for you to check if I knew how but I have to say the the NOVEL gives me a much better result than the CUDY.

Again I thank you for your simple instructions and to the point YouTube videos. I will be purchasing the NOVEL AC1200 and thank you for making this grandma a happy camper.

    Keep your reviews coming!
PS I tried to post my review on Amazon however, being that it is my first purchase it doesn’t allow me too.

    Thank you,
    Lillian Lee
